How not to die

It is difficult to write about what is going on around in these times of China Virus. Part of the difficulty is to find a good name for what it is.

Easier it is to find out what it is not. Pandemic? In Sweden, with no lockdowns, the effect of the virus was equivalent to a bad influenza season. It killed just 60 per million of the population. If they had their nursing homes better protected that number would have been much lower.

In Sweden with no lock-downs about 6000 people died when in a regular year about 90,000 die of all causes. This is about a 6% uptick in the number of regular deaths. Is it worth destroying everyone's life because of a 60 people per million death rate?

What is happening in Victoria is beyond anything anyone can describe. Sometimes I think it was designed that way in order to prevent people from reacting in a sane way, or to react at all. We are continuously bombarded with propaganda which seems to be tailored to make everyone believe the only issue in the world is the China Virus. But by simply looking around we quickly find out who the enemy is.

The media is certainly to blame. Allied with the government they are hell bent on fueling the scare as much as they can. The Police have been completely repurposed to target the common citizen walking alone on an empty street.  The only thing that seems important is to keep the scare going. This, by itself, is criminal.

What is happening in Victoria? The usual. Nobody cared about the elderly, therefore no effective measure was taken to protect nursing homes. If they did, the number of deaths would have been at least one order of magnitude lower.

But to compensate for that, to divert attention from that simple fact, the government targets people going about their lives. They imposed martial law with the excuse of the China Virus, they prevented people from even walking alongside the beach. They arrest people for wanting to go out, destroying their lives, accusing them of incitement.

The government propaganda says that the only way to die is by catching the China Virus.

If that is the only way to die, in order to avoid dying, the best strategy is for everyone to stop living.

And now I have to agree with our government. The best way not to die is indeed to stop living.
